Our journey

parapente biplace handicap avec un fauteuil de vol

This idea started from a crazy dream that only he believed was possible!

“To achieve something extraordinary, start by dreaming it, continue by acting without saying anything.”

The founder of the association dreamed of flying with his father, who has a motor disability. Determined, he obtained the required tandem qualification and completed 300 tandem flights with friends and many strangers he met along the way toward his dream. Then, he felt sufficiently prepared to obtain his “UCC HAND ICARE” tandem qualification from the FFVL (French Federation of Free Flight). He achieved it, and at that moment, he said, “My dream was to share the magic of flying; today, that dream has become our shared mission.”

“Alone we go faster; together we go further.”

Since the creation of our association dedicated to tandem paragliding for individuals with disabilities, we have enabled dozens of people to experience the joy of tandem paragliding. Our personalized approach and commitment to our passengers make us one of the leading associations in the field of adapted paragliding.

FAQ: Frequently Asked Questions

Yes, for sure!

The association J’IRAI VOUS FAIRE VOLER is open to everyone, including people without disabilities. As a generous donor to the association, you can support our mission by making a contribution to the online fundraiser available on this website. For donations of €80 or more, you will receive a gift voucher for a tandem paragliding flight with us, delivered within 48 hours. The voucher is valid for one year.

This amount helps us fund the purchase of adapted paragliding equipment for people with disabilities, allowing them to experience the joy and freedom of flying. These flights are made possible thanks to the generosity of our donors and the dedication of our volunteers who contribute their time to this meaningful cause. Your support enables us to fund our actions and events while giving participants a unique experience without any financial barriers.

In short, flying with us also means contributing to a great cause!

You’ll need sneakers or closed-toe shoes, as well as pants and a windproof jacket, even if you don’t end up using them during the flight.

At higher altitudes, the temperature can be significantly cooler than on the ground, and the wind is often more noticeable. It’s better to be well-covered to fully enjoy this unique experience!

For wheelchair users, we’ve chosen a specially adapted option. We use a flight chair equipped with a neoprene cover that is both windproof and thermal. This cover provides leg support, protects the torso, and ensures optimal comfort with improved thermal insulation. However, we still recommend dressing warmly, as the air gets cooler at altitude, even with this extra protection.

A paragliding flight usually lasts between 10 and 30 minutes, depending on weather conditions. If conditions are favorable and you’d like to extend the experience, it’s possible to stay in the air longer.

We constantly ensure your comfort throughout the flight, regularly checking in to see how you feel. This allows us to adjust the flight duration to your preferences. Our goal is to provide you with an enjoyable experience that leaves you eager to fly again!

For the entire activity, plan for at least 1.5 to 2 hours, including the briefing, the journey to the takeoff site, and, of course, the flight itself.

There is no fixed age for paragliding. What truly matters is the child’s desire to experience flying and their parents’ approval. A curious, motivated, and ready child will have a much more enjoyable and enriching experience.

However, material and technical constraints also come into play. Each tandem wing has a total flying weight (TFW) range, which includes the pilot’s weight, the passenger’s weight, and the equipment. Respecting these weight ranges is essential to ensure both safety and optimal flight performance.

Standard tandem wings (42 m²): Widely used, these wings have a TFW range of 120 to 220 kg.

Smaller tandem wings (39 m²): Some pilots use wings suited to lighter TFWs, for example, between 90 and 190 kg.

Thus, a light pilot with a large wing can take heavier passengers but not very light ones. Conversely, a heavier pilot with a smaller wing can take lighter passengers but not heavier ones.

Passenger height is also an important factor. Most standard harnesses fit individuals between 150 cm and 2 m tall, but in our association, some pilots have specific harnesses designed for children under 135 cm.

Based on these criteria:

  • Some pilots accept children starting at 7 years old and 25 kg.
  • Others prefer passengers of at least 30 kg (around 8 years old) or even 40 kg, depending on their equipment.

Over time, our association has been gradually acquiring equipment to expand the range of passenger weights we can accommodate. Our goal is to make the skies accessible to as many people as possible by adapting our gear to welcome a more diverse range of passengers.

In summary, the possibilities depend on the pilot, their equipment, and the flying conditions. We invite you to contact us to discuss options tailored to your child, ensuring a safe, comfortable, and memorable flight.

Vertigo is probably your biggest concern.

However, you won’t feel it during paragliding. Have you ever felt dizzy looking down from a window, standing on a chair, or approaching a steep slope? That’s a normal phenomenon, which varies from person to person. Vertigo occurs when what you see contradicts what your body feels. For example, when you’re high up on a stable surface, your feet sense solid ground, but your eyes see a void, creating a sensation of imbalance.

In paragliding, your feet leave the ground, and there’s no fixed point of reference. You might feel a slight dizziness before takeoff, but once you’re in the air and comfortably seated, that feeling quickly fades. Instead, you’ll be captivated by the beauty of the flight and the thrill of the experience, and any vertigo will vanish, replaced by awe.

Many of our passengers are surprised to feel no fear. The slight apprehension before takeoff completely disappears once you’re airborne.

Yes, absolutely! Winter flights are possible and offer breathtaking landscapes.

However, it’s important to note that flights are generally shorter in winter. This is because warm ascending air currents, which allow us to stay airborne longer, are less common during this season.

Make sure to dress warmly to fully enjoy the experience!

All our pilots hold tandem flight certifications and share our core values: giving their best to introduce you to their passion for flying. Driven by a strong sense of sharing, they generously volunteer their time to ensure you have an unforgettable experience.

For wheelchair flights, our pilots have an additional qualification: the UCC Hand’Icare, specifically designed for wheelchair paragliding.

You can learn more about our pilots in the “The Members” section. Based on your location, we will assign the closest available pilot to guide you on this adventure.

Lastly, all our wings and harnesses are recent and undergo annual inspections to ensure maximum safety. Their renewal is made possible thanks to your generous donations.

We carefully choose the flight conditions and the most suitable times of the day.

Regarding the maximum weight:

  • For a standard tandem flight, the passenger should not exceed 100 kg.
  • For a wheelchair flight, the weight limit is set at 80 kg to ensure flight safety and stability.

Our top priorities are always your comfort and safety in the air!

For safety reasons, paragliding is not recommended for pregnant women.

We encourage you to return after your pregnancy to experience this magical adventure with complete peace of mind.

When you book a flight, there may be occasions when we need to cancel it for reasons beyond our control. Your safety is our top priority, and we take all necessary precautions.

We review weather forecasts the day before. If there is a risk of rain, storms, or strong winds, we prefer to postpone the flight. Sometimes, even if the weather looks favorable in advance, conditions can change unexpectedly. In these cases, we may decide, even at the last minute, not to take off if the conditions don’t guarantee a safe flight.

Rest assured, if your flight is postponed, it’s just a delay: whether on that day or another, you’ll get the chance to experience this incredible adventure under the best possible conditions. As a well-known saying in the paragliding community goes:
“Better to be on the ground, dreaming of flying, than in the air, dreaming of being on the ground.”

In our sport, knowing when to call it off is part of the game. While it can sometimes be a bit frustrating, every decision is made to ensure your safety and make your flight a truly exceptional experience!
